Layla is the essence of a timeless love story. Qays, overwhelmed by his love for her, became known as “Majnun Layla”, he who is mad with love for Layla. Majnun's soul was captivated by Layla; she was all he could see, all he could feel. His heart was so consumed by her love that it became his existence, until he eventually surrendered to that love entirely.
In Sufi tradition, Layla symbolises the divine love for Allah, the Beloved. The poets and seekers speak of this sacred love, a longing that burns deeply within the soul, drawing them ever closer to the Divine. Layla is within us all. We are both the lover and the beloved. And when we awaken to Layla’s call within, like Majnun, the yearning ignites so intensely that it pulls us towards the path of self-discovery and transformation, bringing us closer to the Truth. You are here because you heard Layla’s call and answered with your heart, “Here I am, my Beloved.”
The Layla Calling aims to nurture a loving, embracing space for a community of individuals and families of various faiths, cultures and ages who are searching for a way to find their true selves and are longing to live a life of peace, harmony, justice, mercy and freedom. Through our activities, we seek to enhance the wellbeing and health of the community by promoting a heart-oriented approach to self-care through meditation, workshops, retreats, healing, and community meeting spaces.
